Bumblebee

The Bumblebee will burrow. Mainly underneath the ground or wooden floors or concrete slabs using almost any material to hand - paper, rags, Hessian sack etc. The material is always shredded to form its nest.
The nest usually consists of about 60 Bees, its not very often that there will be more.
It’s the giant Bees that do the shredding, they have jaws that slash and do not sting. The small Bumblebee has a sting this is quite long for its size and can penetrate thick leather gloves.
These Bees pollinate just about every thing they touch.

Honey Bee

When Honey Bees swarm off the hive they always hang in a clump underneath a tree, bush, hedge or on occasions in a shed.
There are some very pleasant swarms, others can be very aggressive and should not be approached as more than one of them will attack you, and unless you are immune to their sting (as we are), you will be in a lot of discomfort particularly if they sting you on your head.

Wasp

The Common Wasp is a real pain. You cannot predict what they are going to do. You can almost guarantee you will be stung if you are not quick enough

Hornet

Hornets look like a giant wasp. They nest in the most inaccessible places and seem to have no purpose in life except to be a complete nuisance to every body and everything.
Their nests are to be found in attics, sheds and underneath roof tiles and roof slates.
In these cases they can usually be got rid of but it could take a lot of visits (at no extra charge).
